How Junto works

Five steps, in the order they actually happen.

Post it. Open the roles.

A band, a café, an app. List what you’re missing and let the right people arrive.

Everyone sees who owns what.

Equity, revenue share, a fee or a credit — printed on the role before you apply.

1. Post the project — or pick a playbook

Say what you are building, where, and what stage it is at. If it is a known kind of business — a café, a cloud kitchen, an agency, a studio — start from a playbook instead: it comes with the roles that business needs, a verified cost estimate, default splits and a launch checklist you can edit.

2. Open the roles

Add a role for each person you need, with a title, a description of what they will own, and a stake: equity, a revenue share, a fee, or a credit. The equity and revenue pools have to total exactly 100% across the team including you — the app will not let you promise more than exists.

3. People apply to specific roles

Your project appears in the deck of everyone in your city whose skills match an open role. They see the whole cast sheet — who is seated, what they hold, what is left — and apply to one role with a pitch. Applications arrive ranked, and you can open a conversation with anyone, bringing your existing teammates in so the team interviews together.

4. Sign the split

When your cast is set, draft the agreement. It records every party, their role and their stake, with a vesting schedule required on anything carrying equity. Everyone signs. Only then does the project move into building — the split is settled before the work is, which is the whole point.

5. Build it

The workspace carries the team thread, the launch checklist, the file vault and the money. Hand any paperwork step to the concierge and the documents come back into your vault. Pool funds into a guarded treasury if you need to. Book a mentor who has run this kind of business.

When the project closes, everyone who held a role gets a verified credit, and a live venture gets a permanent public page with its team and its story.

Common questions

How long does it take to form a team?

It depends entirely on how clearly the roles are defined and how realistic the stakes are. A well-specified role with a fair stake in an active city typically sees applications within days.

What if someone leaves halfway?

The agreement records vesting on equity roles, which is exactly the case vesting exists for. Projects can also be closed as dissolved — credits are still minted for the work that was done, because the record should be honest.

Do I need money to start?

No. Posting is free, and most founding roles here are sweat-first. Cash buy-ins are optional and stated on the role if they apply.
